Projects and capabilities
Practical technology, built for the real world.
From fixing a single connection problem to planning a complete network, smart-home or small-business environment, every project begins with what the technology needs to achieve.

The kinds of problems I help solve
Projects can be a focused repair, an upgrade to an existing environment or a complete new setup. The scale changes, but the approach remains practical and outcome-focused.
Networks
Whole-property Wi-Fi improvement
Assess weak coverage, equipment placement and interference, then design a network that provides dependable connections where they are needed.
Connected homes
Smart-home integration
Bring compatible lights, sensors, cameras and automations together in a system that supports the household rather than complicating it.
Servers & storage
Home server, NAS and backup setup
Create dependable shared storage, backups and home services with clear access, recovery planning and sensible security.
Small business
Technology refresh and tidy-up
Review devices, accounts, Microsoft 365, networking, storage and backups, then prioritise improvements around the way the business operates.
Devices
Computer build, repair or upgrade
Diagnose faults, select appropriate components and build or upgrade a computer around the performance and budget actually required.
Troubleshooting
Existing system investigation
Untangle an unreliable or poorly documented setup, identify the real cause and agree on the smallest sensible path to a dependable result.
How projects are shaped
Start with the problem. Build the right thing.
A good project does not begin with a shopping list. It begins by understanding the people using the technology, the limitations of the environment and what a successful result looks like.
- Clear outcome before equipment is recommended
- Existing technology reused where it remains suitable
- Security, support and recovery considered early
- Configuration tested and explained at handover
Useful over impressive
The best solution is the one you can rely on.
Complexity is only worthwhile when it solves a real problem. Every component should have a clear reason for being there.
A straightforward process
From idea or problem to working result
01
Define the outcome
Describe what you want to improve, what is currently getting in the way and who needs to use the finished solution.
02
Design the approach
I will assess the environment, explain the practical options and agree on a sensible scope before implementation.
03
Build, test and hand over
The solution is configured, tested against the agreed outcome and explained clearly so you know what has changed.
Common project questions
Before you get in touch
Does a project need to be large?
No. A project can be a single fault, a targeted upgrade or a complete environment. The scope should match the outcome you need.
Can you take over an existing setup?
Yes. Existing systems can be reviewed, documented and improved without replacing equipment that remains suitable.
Do I need to know which equipment to buy?
No. Start with the result you need. Appropriate equipment can be identified after the environment and requirements are understood.
Can part of the work be completed remotely?
Often, yes. Planning, review and configuration may be possible remotely across New Zealand, with on-site work available throughout the wider Wellington region.
Have a technology project in mind?
Describe what you want to build, improve or fix, and I will help identify the right next step.
